Pinky Promise

PASSION: pas•sion (noun)

 1. A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger.
 2. Boundless enthusiasm.

Today, as I speak of PASSION, I speak of my 5 year old daughter. She is a very passionate person and gives her ALL in everything she does. She is strong-willed, defiant, confident, and very much likes things HER way. Although at times her strong and defiant nature challenges my patience as her mother, I couldn't love her any more. My hope is to help her channel these skills and emotions to her fullest potential.

She has a deep love and passion for DANCE, and bless her sweet little HEART... she was born with her Dad's flexibility. (Oh Dear!) WE bought her new dance clothes today in preparation to start dance classes again in the fall. (of course we had to try them on and dance around for a while). We loaded some basic ballet moves on YouTube and worked on them together. (*sigh*) We have a long way to go!
I gave her a hug and told my sweet little bug that she would have to work really hard, and practice every day so she could be the VERY BEST DANCER she could be. And then I made the BIGGEST pinky promise yet!.... I pinky promised to do ALL of her dance exercises with her, and that TOGETHER we would build up our flexibility. (exhale, here we go). I danced in High School my Junior Year, and was a cheerleader my Senior Year in a small Wyoming school. So the basic skills are there, but I've added 12 years, 60 pounds, and well... lets just say I'll have my work cut out for me.

So, here we go. My little dancer and I have set a new goal: We will work together to build up our flexibility. Wish me luck! I'll keep you posted to our progress.

Taking The First Step

As Moms we know how exciting and scary it is to watch as our little ones take his/her very first step. Its starts with a simple destination, or a goal they want to reach: a toy, a treat, a sibling, or mom. They decide where they want to go, stand up, and on legs that are a little wobbly and unsteady they courageously attempt that first step. Some only make one step, maybe two before they fall. Here's the amazing thing about kids....they always get back up and try again. Imagine if more adults brushed themselves off as easy as our children do and simply stand back up, even if our legs are wobbly, and try again.
Today I am trying something new. I am officially at Stay At Home Mom and I am SO EXCITED, and honestly a little bit SCARED. No, I'm not scared of being around my children 24/7 (ok, maybe a little) but I am scared financially, emotionally, mentally, you name it. Its scary to make a big (or little) life change. But without change there can be no progress or growth. Without FEAR we can't know PEACE, SUCCESS, or LOVE. Fear controls so much of our lives, yet we should learn to let it guide us. As we take our first steps towards our new destination we need to have the faith of a little child and simply stand back up and try again. So with that, I start my new blog. This is a way for me to express myself, share thoughts, inspirations, frustrations, or whatever speaks to me. This blog is for ME!! (and maybe in time there is something that will come from this that will be helpful to you too). I'm now starting my journey to BE HAPPY with ME ....You Be Happy Too!!
